COVID-19 Twitter Activity in the South

These maps and graphics were designed as part of an analysis using geolocated Twitter Data to better understand/contextualize key events in the news—in this case, COVID-19. Using Twitter’s API and RStudio, the figures produced uncovered that around early May 2021, the timeframe in which this analysis was done, there was surge of people seeking vaccination and pharmacies seeking technicians to administer these vaccines. As well, the geopolitics of the South suggests more urbanized and developed areas tend to house more liberal demographics, who are more likely in support and vocal about vaccinations. The rest of the findings and full analysis can be found here.
